Gay Vacations in Cancun - Travel Tips

You're going to have a great time on your vacation in Cancun! To get ready, you need to evaluate both the time and the money available to you: You can take a four-day cruise or longer, or you can fly to your destination. If you are going with a friend, be certain that you agree on limitations, and then have fun making plans!

If you want to cruise, you will most likely depart from Miami or Galveston to reach Cancun. Most cruise ships depart in the evening. If you live in the western part of the States, then most cruise ships will take you to the Mexican Riviera.

If you've decided to fly, you will save money if you book your airfare and hotel at the same time. You can use a travel agent for either a cruise or a plane trip, and make certain the agent spells out for you exactly what is included in the cost of your trip.

Be certain whether your destination is Cancun Playa del Carmen or Cancun Calica. Playa del Carmen is a beach town with tours to ruins and a biosphere reserve, with tropical forests and habitat preserves. Calica features white sand beaches and a lively night life, as well as tours to ancient Mayan ruins or a nature park.

Buy sunscreen! It's hard to avoid the water in Cancun, and it's best to buy waterproof sunscreen.

Call your cell phone service provider to find out how much you will pay in roaming charges when you are in Mexico. If you want to keep in touch with the office or with family, you need a cost guideline.

Most of your money should be in traveler's checks. Most establishments are happy to have American money, but if you exchange cash for pesos, do it at a bank. Carry your theft information for your traveler's checks separately from the checks, and if you have a credit card be certain you have theft protection. If you do have pesos, be careful not to tear them, and do not accept torn bills, because the Mexican government does not honor torn money.

Tip your hotel staff and the wait service at restaurants and night clubs at ten to fifteen percent.

When you engage a cab, tell the cabbie your destination and agree on a price beforehand. Cab drivers do not expect tips.

If you are walking somewhere, don't go alone, good advice for any city! And be mindful that in Mexico, pedestrians do NOT have the right of way.

Ask your hotel staff for recommendations on the types of places you want to visit. The Karamba night club in Cancun comes highly recommended for gay nightlife.

No matter where you are traveling or how you are getting there, make certain you check about luggage restrictions, including how many pieces you can carry, the size, the weight, and the cost for extra pieces. Also, call the airport or the cruise line a few days before departure to learn about any boarding restrictions on what you can carry with you. The best trips are well planned. You can have fun now organizing your trip, and then while you are actually on vacation you won't have any surprises to spoil it!

  1. Hi,

A tropical oasis at the far north-eastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, Cancun offers any fun-lover or sun-worshiper a vacation they will want to relive over and over again. Cancun is known for fabulous hotels stretching for miles along its white sand beaches. Thanks a lot...
